The Case for Simple Song Demos

Songwriters (especially those connected with Nashville) have been told for years to create demos that are radio ready. Many artists/labels use the exact same arrangement from a demo on their release.

BUT… if you are a songwriter pitching a song is it necessary to do a fully arranged perfectly produced demo?
